Refugio Valley Park

Hercules is located on the I-80 corridor between Pinole and Rodeo. Originally the location of a dynamite plant, Hercules has grown by leaps and bounds in recent years with the construction of hundreds of new homes, townhomes, new schools, parks and shops. The city is attractively centered around the Refugio Valley Park with its lovely lake and shade trees, and boasts a modern swim center, tennis courts, jogging trail and par course, and baseball and multi-purpose fields. There still exist some Victorian homes, now restored, that were originally the homes of the powder plant workers and their families, however, most of the housing has been built within the last thirty years.
